Loving Kindness Meditation

Are you familiar with loving kindness meditation? It’s the practice of wishing yourself and all beings happiness, freedom, and peace. 

     May I be happy. May I be free. May I find peace.
     May you be happy. May you be free. May you find peace.
     May all beings be happy. May all beings be free. May all beings find peace.

I love the concentric circles baked into this practice: 

     Care for self. 
     Care for those around you. 
     Care for the world at large. 

Isn’t that how it all works? 

Coaching is an opportunity to tend to yourself, your inner world, your daily life. As you develop deeper self-trust and take actions that bring you closer to feeling how you want to feel, you bring more happiness, freedom, and peace to the world by cultivating it within yourself. 

When that happens, your capacity expands and you find you have more to give to those around you. As my friend Meghan put it, “Give OF yourself. Not at the expense of yourself.”

Then maybe you’re able to widen your scope even more, and perhaps those around you, those you’ve been able to care for and love on, are able to do the same. 

Could you imagine if everyone did this?! 

dear one, we know we can’t change anyone else’s behavior, but we have the incredible opportunity to shape our own lives, and, bit by bit, improve the world at large.
