Summer & Sweet Simplicity
Happy summer!
One of my favorite things about this season is its simplicity.
Meals can be assembled, rather than cooked. A sprinkler or kiddie pool can entertain the little ones (and their grownups!) for hours. An afternoon spent with a book, an Arnold Palmer, and a bowl of peach panzanella hits about six notes of perfect. And evening catch-ups with friends don’t need much more than your beverage of choice, tacos, and some bug repellent.
I’ve started seven (I counted) different versions of this love note to you today, and none of them felt right. I kept overcomplicating or trying to be clever. Feeling like I had to have a big insight (this letter is called Pep Talks and Insights, after all) to share. And you know what? It all felt a little tricky, a little icky, a little much today.
Summer. Simplicity. Richness and beauty.
Nature is one of our greatest teachers and I’m letting it teach me again today. So in that spirit, I’m sharing the journaling prompts that I posted to Instagram on the Solstice.
To toot my own horn*, these prompts are really good, friends. When I wrote pages on them under the solstice sunset, I was pretty surprised and amused by what came up. So I’m putting them here in case you missed them or need a reminder.
Journal Prompts for Summer
What makes me feel brightest and where do I shine with ease?
Where am I ready to flourish?
How can I bring more radiant joy into my daily life?
Finally, using what came up in your journaling, set an intention for the season ahead.
I’d love to hear what these unearth for you. Drop a note letting me know, and I’ll reply with my own takeaways if you’re curious.
*Highly recommend horn-tooting! In fact, we practice it every Friday with Weekly Wins. I’d love to know yours!
