Summer Time Travel
It seems like every other conversation I have these days revolves around summer plans. Who’s traveling where, are the kids going to camp, do you know a good dog sitter, and so on.
Whether you have a packed calendar or it’s wide open, the cusp of summer is a great opportunity to practice being intentional about how you want to feel.
It can be so easy to get swept up in invitations and opportunities.
Or to forgo dreaming all together because between work deadlines and summer break, who can even take a "real" summer, anyway? (You can, my dear.)
If you’re craving freedom and spaciousness, filling your calendar due to FOMO isn’t the answer.
If you’re aching for deep connection, you might need to be more proactive and initiate some get togethers.
If you're longing to remember who you are underneath it all, you need to get clear about what can you stop doing so you can start reconnecting with your essential self.
What is calling to you?
Grab your journal or open the notes app on your phone, and write down what you want.
I want you to really go for it.
Be bold in your wishes, extravagant in your longings.
Once you’ve tuned in and written them down, check your list against how you expect that to make you feel.
If they don’t match up, this is the time to make adjustments!
You can cancel plans or make them.
You can let others down, especially if it means standing up for yourself. (I promise.)
You can come up with a creative solution to what’s in front of you.
You can set intentions for how you approach different situations.
Write it into being.
One study found that simply writing a goal down makes it 42% more likely you'll achieve it.
So today, in early June, I want you to write your September 5, 2023, journal entry, reflecting on the fulfilling summer that just wrapped up.
The meals you hosted with dear friends, and the conversation and music that filled your table.
The trip you took to Puerto Rico with your bestie, filled with so much laughter your cheeks and bellies hurt.
The perfect bungalow you closed on and the life you’re building within those walls.
The steady stream of tomatoes, arugula, zucchini, and green beans from your garden and all the soil under your fingernails.
Write it all as if it is already done. Then let it be so.
To help you bring even more magic into your summer, I'm hosting a free summer solstice celebration on June 21, and I'd love you to join!
The Summer Solstice – the longest day and shortest night of the year – is a time to recognize our own inner light, to embrace our passions, and to ignite the fires of our dreams and aspirations.
