Tarot as a business tool? Absolutely.

When I worked for a $4 billion nonprofit, I was regularly invited to strategy and planning sessions. We’d gather in too-bright conference rooms, armed with tear-sheets, giant post-its, and those little dot stickers. There’d be word clouds projected onto the walls to get our conversations flowing, and loads of question prompts.

But here’s the thing—no matter how “official” those planning sessions were, there was always something missing.

Fast forward to today. Whether I’m guiding a client through her strategic visioning process or revisiting my own, my toolkit has shifted just a little. 😉

Yes, I still love a good post-it note (you, too?), but when I really need to drop in, get clear, and access my deepest insights, I start with two things: a journal and a tarot deck.

You might be thinking: "Tarot as a business tool? Really?"

Absolutely.

Tarot helps us access a deeper level of understanding and clarity than we ever could with dot stickers alone. (I mean, no contest.) It cuts through the noise and taps into a space where intuition meets strategy—right where the soul of your business lives.

The best part? You cannot do it wrong. There is no "right" way to shuffle or pull cards, as long as you approach it with presence and openness.

Want to try it? Here’s my simple approach:

Grab your journal and write down a set of questions. Then, pull one card for each question. From there, let your intuition do the talking.

Here’s a recent spread I used for myself as I looked ahead to the next moon cycle:

  • What is the overall message from my guides for this next moon cycle?

  • What do I need to let go of?

  • What’s getting in my way?

  • What action do I need to take?

  • What am I stepping into?

When I’m working with clients, I’ll adjust the questions to suit their unique situation. For example, here’s a recent spread I used with one of my 1x1 coaching clients:

  • What is the current energy of her business?

  • What is her biggest obstacle right now?

  • What should she hold close?

  • What message do her guides have for her?

Once the cards are pulled, write them down next to the questions, allowing yourself to sit with the imagery and symbolism. What do these pictures seem to be telling you today? What are the underlying themes or patterns?

Then you can layer in guidance from outside resources. I like to see what The New Tarot Handbook, by Rachel Pollack, says about each card. Use your intuition as the primary resource, weaving in other wisdom as additional insight to piece together the full picture.

Here’s the thing: you might not “get it” right away. And that’s totally okay. Write down your thoughts, make a note that some things are still squishy, and trust that the clarity will come in time.

And if you get a "scary" card (the Tower, the Devil, Death, etc.)? Remember that Tarot benevolent and on your side. What's the most generous interpretation?

Why work with tarot in your business?

As a soul-centered entrepreneur, your intuition and self-trust are two of your greatest assets.

These skills empower you to make bold decisions, take aligned action, and build the business that’s uniquely yours.

Strengthening your intuition isn’t just a “nice to have”—it’s a key part of your strategic toolkit. Think of it as building a bridge between your higher self and your practical business decisions. Tarot helps you ask the right questions, find clarity, and unlock new pathways you may not have considered otherwise.
