Want more ease and magic? Work with the days of the week.
I’m recently back from the first Sacred Nature Retreat, and it was just as magical and transformational as I knew it would be.
There is tremendous power in gathering in community with others who are curious, open, supportive, and committed to creating a life that us nourishing and nurturing at the deepest level.
This is why I love working with my clients, and why I am already percolating ideas for more in-person gatherings in the future.
One of our sessions focused on earth magic.
We talked about how to work with the energies and planetary rulers of the different days of the week. It led to such a rich discussion and ideas for practical application, I couldn't wait to share it with you.
Working with the days of the week
Sunday
The sun represents the self, the ego, the soul, and our higher purpose.
This is a beautiful day to bask in the sun and recharge your energy with any activity that nourishes your soul. Think of this as a day to fill your emotional and spiritual stores for the week ahead.
Monday
The moon has no light of its own, but reflects that from the sun. Working with the moon, Mo(o)nday is a wonderful day for reflection and introspection.
I have the first 90 minutes of my calendar blocked every Monday morning to reflection and planning to set me up for the coming week.
Tuesday (Mardi in French)
Mars is the planet of action, making Tuesdays a great day to take bold steps, start new projects, and get things done.
Think of the energy and direction you’ve built up through Sunday’s inner nourishment and Monday’s reflection; now it’s time to unleash that power and make moves.
Wednesday (Mercredi)
Mercury is associated with communication, so Wednesday is a great day to use your voice and express yourself.
I tend to do most of my writing, like this letter to you, on Wednesdays.
Thursday (Jeudi)
Jupiter is associated with expansion, abundance, and wisdom.
Thursdays are a wonderful day to focus on personal growth, explore something new, and seek wisdom through mentorship, coaching, or spiritual practices.
When I first started sending Pep Talks & Insights, I picked Thursday for this very reason.
Friday (Vendredi)
Venus is the planet of love, beauty, and harmony.
Think Friday date night, whether solo, with a beloved friend, or a partner. Indulge the senses and soak up the beauty around you. Connect with those you love, and practice creative pursuits. Can you think of a lovelier way to end the week?!
Saturday
Saturn is associated with discipline, structure, and responsibility.
At the retreat, at first we were a bit stymied by this – isn’t Saturday supposed to be a reprieve after a long week, a day to cut loose?!
One woman shared that in her family growing up, Saturday was the day to get the house and homework in order so that Sunday could be a true day of rest.
That story helped it all click into place. Imagine having the house reset and tedious tasks tended to on Saturday so you could fully surrender to the joy of Sunday. I’m going to give it a try.
I’d love to know – do you have a practice of working with the different days of the week? Will you give it a whirl and see what happens?
