Time to Prune Your Business? It Was for Me.

Sometimes, we have to prune branches to let the roots grow deeper and the blooms grow brighter. This is true in our gardens, and it’s true in our businesses.

For the last few months, I’ve been looking at my beloved apothecary and feeling, well, neglectful.

I loved setting up my herbals business. I loved taking classes, getting to know the plants, blending custom teas, and hearing from people who loved them so much they came back for more.

But as I’ve gained clarity about my true purpose—helping entrepreneurs create businesses that are energizing and lucrative—it became clear that my apothecary was no longer where my focus needed to be.

Still, making the decision to close Sacred Nature Herbals wasn’t easy. If you’ve ever looked at a part of your business and felt that it’s pulling energy away from your true purpose, you know how hard it is. What if you let it go and you’re wrong? What if it still has potential? What about everything you’ve already invested?

But here’s what I’ve learned: Simplifying isn’t giving up—it’s creating space for what’s next.

If you’re feeling the pull to refine, consider this: Could what feels heavy be turned into a source of joy again? Could it become a hobby instead of a business focus?

Science shows that hobbies and creative play aren’t just “nice to have”—they’re essential for fostering innovation and success in business. When we engage in activities that bring us joy without the pressure of achieving specific outcomes, we activate the brain’s default mode network, the part responsible for creative thinking and problem-solving. This mental “reset” allows fresh ideas to emerge and helps us approach our work with renewed clarity and focus.

By giving yourself space to experiment and play outside your business, you make space for sacred structure within it—refining and improving what already works instead of feeling the constant pressure to reinvent the wheel. Hobbies allow us to tap into our humanity and joy, fueling our energy and bringing fresh perspective to the work that matters most.

As I prepare to close down Sacred Nature Herbals, I’m celebrating with a sale: everything is 25% until the shop closes on March 31 or stock runs out, whichever comes first.

If there’s a tea you love or have been wanting to try (Date Night Bliss, Radiant Rest, Hygge Chai, to name a few), now’s the time.

If you want to stock your gift bin with spell kits, it’s the perfect time to do that and save.

If you’ve become accustomed to Sweet Dreams Pillow Spray lulling you to sleep, or love the ritual of spritzing some Abundance Room Spray to start your workday (I do!), you can grab a few to keep on hand.

You can explore the full shop here, and I’ll be shipping twice a week.

Making this decision took lots of reflection, trusting my knowing, and coming back to business strategies that I know are effective. As soon as I settled on my next move, I felt a deep sense of peace and started having immediate greater clarity about other areas of my business. This is what I’d love to help you achieve, too!

I’d love to know: what is one small, brave step toward simplifying, refining, and thriving in your business. Hit reply and let me know?
