There Is Always a Creative Solution

Whenever I’m feeling stuck or helpless or just out of sorts, I remind myself of my favorite mantra: There’s always a creative solution.
Wait wait wait. Let's try that again.

That's better.
Invoking this mantra sends the brain down new pathways, shifting us into problem-solving mode.

It also invites an element of play.
You don’t need to come up with the best or smartest or whatever-est solution.

You just need to get creative.

Feeling totally stuck staring at blank page? Dictate into your phone while taking a walk. Use colorful pens on graph paper. Pretend you’re writing a letter to your best friend.

Dreading cleaning the kitchen? Put on a fancy necklace and earrings. Pretend it’s a game show and award yourself points for every dish you wash. Blast some music and see how many dance moves you can work into wiping the counters.

Hawks eating your chickens? Get a wacky waving inflatable tube guy. I mean come on – how awesome is that?! I was tickled when this came across on my IG feed.

I’d love to know:
Where could you use some Stanley energy? Some extra creativity? What’s a wacky solution you tried that worked?

P.s. We use creative problem-solving in coaching sessions all the time.

Time travel* from the comfort of your own room, dream analysis customized for you, conversations with chronic pain, scripted movement to understand what's getting in your way.

Sure, there's goal-setting, powerful questions, and leveraging neuroplasticity, too, but if conventional approaches haven't been getting you the results you want, it might be time to get weird.

Curious? Book a discovery call and let's see what happens.

* Technically Internal Family Systems work, but come on -- doesn't time travel sound more fun?
