Your Expansion Roadmap

Ready to step into a season of powerful growth and transformation? 🌟 The Thrive Summit kicks off one week from today, and it’s the perfect opportunity to open yourself up to new possibilities and take your business (and life!) to the next level.

One thing I’ve seen time and time again with my clients is that true, lasting growth starts with inner alignment. So, today I’m sharing my tried and true roadmap for preparing your mind, body, and spirit for big time growth and expansion.

Here are simple steps you can take to set the stage and get the most out of the summit – or any experience that feels a little stretchy:

Regulate your nervous system

Knowing how to help soothe your nervous system is an absolute game changer. Try practicing one or two of these exercises each morning or whenever you’re feeling dysregulated:

  • 5-7-8 breathing: Inhale for 5 counts, hold for 7, and exhale for 8. Repeat for a few minutes to calm your nervous system and bring your mind to the present. Having an exhale that’s longer than your inhale is the real trick for helping your body return to a feeling of safety.

  • Grounding visualization: Close your eyes and imagine roots growing from your feet, reaching deep into the earth. On an inhale, picture yourself drawing strength and stability from the earth’s energy. On an exhale, picture yourself sending any stress or discomfort into the earth to be melted down and reabsorbed.

  • Butterfly tapping: Cross your arms over your chest and gently tap your shoulders, alternating sides. Bilateral stimulation like this has been shown to release stress and bring a sense of calm.

  • 5-4-3-2-1 mindfulness exercise: Identify 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. This helps bring you back to the present moment.

  • Connect with nature: Step outside and feel the sun on your face, take a walk around the block, or get your hands in some dirt.

Experiment with different approaches and see what works best for you.

Recognize when you’re dysregulated

When you’re stepping into a new version of yourself, you are, by definition, entering unfamiliar territory. And your sweet nervous system codes unfamiliar as unsafe – even when you’re getting closer to what you really want! Read that again. This is one of the reasons we sometimes find ourselves engaging in not-so-helpful behavior when things are going really well.

Dysregulation can show up in various ways, like:

  • Numbing: mindless scrolling, binge-watching TV, emotional eating, or excessive shopping.

  • Feeling “checked out” or detached from your emotions or surroundings.

  • Increased irritability or sensitivity, brain fog, or tension in your body.

If you notice yourself feeling lit up during a session, and then scrolling Instagram instead of doing what you said you were going to do, this is a perfect time to pause and notice, “Aha – here’s that dysregulation! This means I’m growing!”

From there, you can engage in one of the regulation techniques above, or simply be a compassionate witness to what you’re experiencing.

Cover the basics: rest and nourishment

Growth requires energy, so it’s important to take care of your body and mind. In the days leading up to the summit or any big opportunity, prioritize:

  • Quality sleep and hydration to keep your mind sharp and your body energized.

  • Nourishing foods that support mental clarity and energy, like leafy greens, healthy fats, and some extra protein.

Bonus: While it might not sound as fun, the more you can limit alcohol, caffeine, and sugar, the steadier you’ll feel.

Remember: true expansion happens in cycles. Embrace the moments of rest and reflection as they’re just as valuable as the action steps you’ll take. Rest is a powerful form of preparation!
